Beyond Touch – Apple Watch in Social Game

Visit the Project website to see detail→

Beyond Touch is an ETC semester project supported by Gierad Laput from Apple. Our goal is to leverage the unique capabilities of the Apple Watch, a wearable device that enables real-time body data collection, in gaming experiences. The team will design various gameplay scenarios based on the data provided by the Apple Watch, develop servers for data sharing, and ultimately create a suite of mini-game experiences where players augment the Apple Watch to enhance reality gameplay.

By recording real-time data and sharing it with other players, including heart rate, volume (DB), and footsteps, the game introduces different challenges that require the player’s actions: These actions either initiate or passively induce changes in the player’s real-time data points. The alteration of body data will lead to subjective or objective game decisions. Throughout the development process, the team will document each stage and provide weekly updates on the progress.

Build Virtual Worlds – CMU ETC Festival

We created various games on non-traditional input devices such as Vive Tracker, Phidgets, and Oculus by using Unity. Our team used Maya and Blender to create 3D assets, Adobe Suites and Procreate to make 2D art and designs, And Logic Pro to make sound effects.

Our team also utilized Agile development methodology to produce games and VR/AR experience with 2 programmers, 2 artists, and 1 sound designer in one/two weeks cycles.
